In the last episode, we covered the introduction to the Paleo diet and a little introduction to Dr. Loren Cordain who is one of the main Experts promoting this diet. If you missed that episode, you can listen to that now:
Let me remind you that the paleo diet is popular with those people who want to lose weight or want their best for the fitness program or simply want to feel healthy with more energy. There is one more major category which uses the paleo diet when their health service providers recommend this diet to them. This happens with in those cases where a person has gluten issues, inflammation issues and milk intolerance issues.
At the high level, only those foods are allowed as part of the paleo diet which were taken by your ancestors in the paleolithic era.
Some of the examples are as follow:
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Sea Food
- Animal Protein
- Nuts and Seeds
No processed foods are allowed and no processed oils are allowed. As salt and sugar were not available in that era, those are also not used. In the place of regular salt, you can use the rock salt and for the sugar, you can use other options such as honey, maple syrup etc.
