Here is What You'll Learn in this Podcast:
Many people love to grow Aloe Vera in a pot inside the home as well as in the kitchen gardens. In the Himalayan region I noticed many people putting it on their windowsill so that it gets the sunlight and they can use the fresh Aloe Vera in place of the processed ones.
I still remember the day when my grandpa was potting the Aloe Vera and explaining me all about it. In fact he taught me how to pot the Aloe Vera plant besides sharing the benefits.
In our podcast we do share the benefits the way it was shared with me but I encourage all the listeners not to act on anything without the consultation with their health care providers as some of these herbs can be extremely powerful for some and may react in some cases depending on your medical history.
In the simpler terms, Aloe has the following properties:
It is widely used for the skin health as it stimulates the development of collagen. You can buy the Aloe Vera gel from the market which might be marketed as the skin rejuvenator.
Aloe is also used as anti-inflammatory herb and my grandpa was using it to heal minor burns, insect bites, minor cuts, skin rashes, sunburn and irritation from poison ivy. His message was that use it for minor issues until you can see the doctor. If you strongly believe in the natural herbs, you can still use it but you need to know the right way of using it.
Many people may ask so how do we use it...
- Pick one fresh stem of the Aloe Vera from your pot.
- Break the stem and remove the gel from the inside of the stem. Collect the gel in a air tight bowl and store it in a safe place.
- You can use it on your face as a natural skin care or use it to heal skin if there is a problem.
- Don't use the stored gel for more than a week
- You can also make juices with Aloe as it is highly cooling and in some cases it may reduce the fever. In remote corners of the mountains, this is what we were doing until we see a doctor in case of fever as this was a good way of keeping the body temperature in check.
Aloe Vera is also known for providing support to your immune system. In fact some of our village folks were using it for supporting the liver health.
We were eating raw Aloe as the Salad too as it is good for the overall health.
Some people take it in the form of juice or puree and mix it with cumin seeds and palm sugar to support the stomach health issues.
Aloe can be used as an underarm deodorant too.
Other Exotic Benefits of Aloe Vera
Besides the above benefits shared, there are many other exotic benefits of aloe vera.
- In certain parts of India, it is taken as a laxative.
- During the ancient time, it was used as aftershave and deodorant.
The best part is that everything is natural and no chemicals are being used. So enjoy this information and use it if you like it.
